A lovely pair of portraits executed on wood panels, likely originally commissioned as architectural inserts for Haveli(manor house) doors or cabinetry. This medium transitions the traditional miniature from a private album format to a public, architectural statement. The noble figures are rendered in classic 19th-century profiles: the man in a forest-green Jama and gold-threaded Dastar, and the lady in an Odhani featuring intricate gold stippling.
